July 22, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan generated 12.536 bn kWh of electricity for the first 6 months of this year (3.2% less versus Jan-Jun 2025), the State Statistics Committee informs.

Commercial electricity production reached 12.17 bn kWh (2.7% lower than the annual figure).

The largest share of generation comes from thermal power plants: their output decreased by 8.3% to 9.414 bn million kWh. Production at hydroelectric power plants increased by 1.7% up to 1.874 bn kWh.

In the renewable energy sector, the dynamics was uneven. Wind power generation grew 4.4-fold up to 499.9 million kWh. Solar power generation fell by 0.8% to 256.4 million kWh. Biomass and waste incineration power generation increased by 6.9% up to 126 million kWh.

Azerbaijan exported 271 million kWh of electricity for $14.37 million.
