Number of Azerbaijani Citizens Traveling Abroad Declines — Turkey Remains Top Destination

August 25, Fineko/abc.az. In January–July 2026, the total number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 2.4% year-on-year to 1.1601 million. According to the State Statistics Committee, men comprised 65.1% of outbound travelers, while women made up 34.9%.

Among citizens traveling abroad, 70.4% opted for air travel, 27.6% used rail and road transport, and 2% traveled by sea.

Breakdown by Key Destinations:

  • Turkey: Turkey was the leading destination, accounting for 42.7% of all outbound trips (up 2.7% year-on-year).

  • Russia: Russia accounted for 15.9% of total visits (down 1.3%).

  • Georgia: Georgia represented 12.4% of outbound travel (up 8%).

  • Iran: Visits to Iran held a 5.8% share, marking a 36.3% drop compared to the same period last year.

  • Other Destinations: 23.2% of trips were made to other countries (down 4.1%).
