June 11, Fineko/abc.az. In the coming weeks, a Chinese company will begin construction of a solar panel manufacturing facility in the Alat Free Economic Zone.

ABC.AZ informs that Alat FEZ chairman of board Valeh Aleskerov said this at the Technovation forum in Baku.

According to Aleskerov, at the first stage, the capacity of the enterprise will be 3 GW of solar panels per year, and later it will be increased to 10 GW.

"At the next stage, it is planned to organize the production of blades and towers for wind farms in the FEZ. Another important area will be the production of energy storage systems. Without such systems, it will be extremely difficult to increase the production of wind and solar energy.

No power system, not only in Azerbaijan, is ready to accept large volumes of solar and wind generation today. Therefore, we are focused on three main areas: the production of solar panels, components for wind farms (at least blades and towers), as well as energy storage systems in Azerbaijan. This will allow us to increase the production of "green" energy without significant restrictions," Aleskerov said.
