April 1, Fineko/abc.az. - (special news) – It is already known that in many countries it is possible to pay with cryptocurrency in most shopping malls.
For example, in Argentina, the population has been using this opportunity for several years. And when will the use of cryptocurrencies in shopping malls become possible in Azerbaijan?
We have addressed with this question to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
The Central Bank told ABC.AZ that currently the cryptocurrency market in the country is not regulated, therefore there are no official mechanisms of activity and a licensing system in this area.
The regulator believes that after the entry into force of the relevant legislation regulating virtual assets and the activities of their service providers, only licensed entities will be able to carry out official activities: "After that, an accurate database on the size of the market and its participants will be created. In general, it should be emphasized that decisions on the broad integration of crypto assets into the financial system can be made only after the formation of an appropriate legal framework and in-depth risk analysis.
According to the Central Bank's approach, regulation of virtual assets will be carried out in stages, and after creating a safe and transparent environment for market participants, new opportunities may arise in this area.
As part of this process, in order to test innovative financial products in real conditions and improve regulatory approaches, the implementation of relevant projects under the special regulatory regime of the Central Bank continues."
