Russian oil imports to India rose to highest level after June drop

January 5, Fineko/abc.az. Crude oil supplies from Russia to India increased up to 7.7 million tons in November 2025, updating the maximum after the June drop, ABC.AZ informs that Indian newspaper Hindu wrote about this, referring to the Indian Ministry of Trade & Industry.

According to the Ministry, Russian oil imports in November made up 35.1%, showing a rise of 7% versus 2024. This figure is the highest since May, when India received 9 million tons of crude oil from Russia, after which imports fell to 7 million tons in June.

The publication also notes that in November, oil imports from the U.S. showed a 7-month high, reaching 2.8 million tons or 12.6% of the overall volume of imported oil.

The U.S., using its tariff policy, is putting pressure on India to abandon purchases of Russian oil. The Indian authorities are trying to maintain delicate balance in order, on the one hand, to meet the U.S. halfway and on the other hand, to maintain profitable supplies of cheap raw materials from Russia.
