Samir Nasirov: Initial balance of income was in deficit for first 9 months

December 15, Fineko/abc.az. For the first 9 months of 2025, the initial income balance was in deficit. Our deficit for this period was $1.7 bn. This deficit decreased by about 14% versus Jan-Sept 2024.

ABC.AZ reports that CBA Statistics Department’s director Samir Nasirov made this statement at a briefing on the announcement of the balance of payments.

"The main factor forming the deficit in the balance of primary income is related to the percentage repatriation of foreign direct investments in Azerbaijan in the oil & gas sector. During this period, there was percentage repatriation of foreign direct investments in the country in the amount of approx. $2 billion," he said.

"At the same time, our income from the securities portfolio is growing during this period. In the first 9 months of this year, our income from the securities portfolio grew by 7.4% in net terms compared with Jan-Sept 2024," Nasirov added.
