ABC.AZ informs that Fortune writes about this, citing sources. The publication admits that the deal may not take place yet, but points out that if the agreement is signed, it will be a significant investment by Mastercard in the stablecoin industry.
Zerohash crypto company was founded in 2017 in Chicago. It specializes in development of solutions for the use of stablecoins and cryptocurrency payments. Its branches are represented in Brazil and Bermuda, and subsidiaries are located in countries such as Australia, the Netherlands, Poland and New Zealand.
Prior to the news of a possible deal between Mastercard and Zerohash, the acquisition by the payment company of another crypto startup, BNVK, was discussed. However, it was subsequently reported that Coinbase would be the most likely buyer. The deal is also estimated at $2 billion.
Mastercard, Zerohash and Coinbase declined to comment. BNVK was unable to respond to Fortune's request in a timely manner.
