Hungary and Serbia prepare to build a new oil pipeline

July 24, Fineko/abc.az. Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said that the project for the construction of an oil pipeline between Hungary and Serbia is in an active phase of preparation.

"We are already preparing for construction, it can be completed in 2027," Szijjarto said.

The Hungarian FM noted that the operation of the new oil pipeline is possible only if there are long-term obligations on the part of consumers. Hungary plans to invest 320 million euros over three years in a project that will connect the Sazhalombat refinery with Serbia, providing it with access to Russian oil. The pipeline will be 300 km long and have a capacity of nearly 5 million tons a year. Hungary will become a transit country, and Serbia will receive new supply channels.

The project is being implemented by MOL and Serbian company Transnafta. It will be important for both countries, given the increased cost of transit of raw materials by Ukraine and Croatia.
