July 14, Fineko/abc.az. The number of tax audits in Azerbaijan has decreased 6-fold, MP Vugar Bayramov stated at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.

He added that the number of active taxpayers in Azerbaijan currently exceeds 800,000: "In annual terms, the number of tax audits has declined by 29%. In other words, we are practically witnessing a reduction in the number of documentary tax audits compared to the previous year, which contributes to development of entrepreneurship. The annual reduction in customs audits, in turn, is 22%."

The MP emphasized that, along with supporting entrepreneurs, it is also very important to ensure food safety and compliance with other requirements: "The Fisheries Bill, which we adopted today, also provides for state support for fishing activities and development of this sector. However, in addition to supporting entrepreneurs, minimizing inappropriate interventions, and reducing the number of audits, another important issue is consumer protection and food safety. In practice, we must simultaneously provide both support for entrepreneurs and protection of consumer rights. This is because reducing the number of inspections in business entities should not lead to violations of consumer rights or the introduction of low-quality products into the consumer market."
