May 26, Fineko/abc.az. Nvidia is developing a performance-reduced and cheaper AI accelerator based on the Blackwell architecture specifically for the Chinese market.
ABC.AZ informs that the novelty will cost from $6,500 to $8,000, which is much lower than the price of the banned H20 model ($10,000-12,000). Mass production may begin as early as June.
The accelerator will be based on server graphics card RTX Pro 6000D and will receive regular GDDR7 memory instead of specialized HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) memory. It will also not use TSMC's advanced CoWoS chip packaging technology, which will simplify production and reduce cost. There is no official name yet, but presumably the new product may be called B40 or 6000D.
The sanctions have seriously affected Nvidia's business. In the last fiscal year alone, China accounted for 13% of company's revenue. After H20 supply restrictions, Nvidia lost about $15 billion in possible sales and was forced to write off $5.5 billion in inventory. American company's share in the Chinese market dropped from 95% to 50%, and its main competitor was Chinese company Huawei with chip Ascend 910B.
