Russia Permits Retail Sale of Euro-2 to Euro-5 Fuel Standards Starting September 1

21:45 - 31.08.2026

August 31, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation announced that starting September 1, gasoline and diesel fuel meeting Euro-2, Euro-3, Euro-4, and Euro-5 environmental standards will be allowed for sale on standard market terms.

According to the ministry, the government resolution will remain in effect from September 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Previously, oil refineries could only supply these specific fuel grades under internal contracts, and their sale at retail gas stations was restricted.

Under the temporary measure, these fuel classes can enter the retail market on unified market conditions, aiming to bolster domestic fuel supply and support market stability.
