August 31, Fineko/abc.az. Around two-thirds of German residents believe that events in the United States currently have a greater impact on Germany than they did a few years ago.

According to a survey conducted by Forsa for the journal Internationale Politik, 67% of respondents reported a growing U.S. influence. Meanwhile, 18% noticed no change, and 11% felt the impact had diminished.

The perceived increase in U.S. political influence during Donald Trump’s second presidential term is shared across almost all demographic and political groups. The trend is particularly pronounced in eastern Germany, where 78% noted increased influence compared to 65% in the west. Age demographics also showed divergence: 18% of respondents over 60 felt U.S. influence had decreased, compared to just 2% among young adults aged 18–29.

The poll was conducted on August 14 among 1,004 respondents.
