April 16, Fineko/abc.az. National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC and Czech companyČEZ, a. s. signed a contract in Prague for the supply of Kazakhstani natural uranium concentrate for nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to Kazatomprom that the agreement marks a significant expansion of the company's presence in Europe and helps strengthen its position in the global uranium market.
Over the next seven years, Kazakh uranium supplies will be able to cover about a third of the uranium needs for the production of Westinghouse fuel assemblies used at Temelin NPP. This will strengthen the Czech Republic's energy security and strengthen the role of nuclear energy in providing the country with clean and sustainable electricity.
