17:39 - 30.01.2025

January 30, Fineko/abc.az. The National Bank of Kazakhstan is considering the possibility of introducing a stablecoin as an investment instrument, ABC.AZ informs, quoting bank’s deputy chairman Berik Sholpankulov.

He added that the initial vision of the project has already been formed, taking into account international experience. The National Bank is currently waiting for proposals from market participants to test them in the framework of the regulatory sandbox.

"After that, we will include the law enforcement norms in the law. We plan to present his project in August 2025," Sholpankulov said.

The Kazakh authorities do not plan to recognize crypto assets as a means of payment.

"Their main function is the ability to buy and sell assets without having to register on stock exchanges. Such a mechanism will provide market participants with convenient tools for working with digital assets," he explained.
