Georgia signs loan agreement with AIIB for €158.5 million for Middle Corridor project

September 29, Fineko/abc.az. Georgia and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) have signed a loan agreement worth approx. €158.5 million.

According to the country's Ministry of Finance, the document was signed by Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and the bank's chief investment officer Konstantin Limitovsky.

The money will be used for large-scale modernization of road infrastructure in the direction of Kakheti within the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TMTM) - Improving Accessibility and Transport Infrastructure of Georgia (TC-GATE) project.

The project includes the construction of 4-lane road sections: Badiauri - Chalaubani (21.7 km), Chalaubani - Bakurtsikhe (9.1 km), as well as the reconstruction of the Gurjaani-Telavi highway (36.6 km).

The total cost of the project is €316.8 million, €158 million of which have already been approved by the World Bank.
