Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan transit traffic has increased

October 3, Fineko/abc.az. The transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan has increased during the year.

ABC.AZ reports that Deputy PM of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev stated about this at the celebration of the Independence Day of Uzbekistan.

"We attach great importance to our relations in the field of transport and transit. The agreements reached at the level of heads of state on increasing cargo flows are a roadmap for us, and we are making joint efforts in this direction. In the 1st half of 2024, the transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan amounted to 624,000 tons, which is 37% more than last year," Mustafayev said.

He noted that expansion of capacity of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line from 1 million tons to 5 million tons, increase in the annual capacity of Alat International trade port from 15 million tons to 25 million tons contributes to an increase in the opportunities and volumes of transit traffic between the two countries.
