July 18, Fineko/abc.az. Auction house LCG Auctions reported that the 2007 iPhone model was sold at auction for a record amount of $190,000.
ABC.AZ reports that this was announced on the official website of LCG Auctions.
According to the description of the lot, previously the same model had already participated in auctions, and its price was significantly lower. In October 2022, it was sold for $39,000, and in February 2023, a record of $63,000 was set. However, on Sunday, this model was sold for an amazing amount of $190,372 thousand, according to LCG Auctions.
The auction house explains the increase in the value of the lot by the memory capacity of the model. Previously sold iPhones had memory capacity of 8 GB.
The iPhone sold on Sunday has memory capacity of 4 GB. Collectors consider this model to be the "Holy Grail" because of its limitations and rarity on the market, as indicated in the description of the lot. This model was released on June 29, 2007 in two versions: with memory capacity of 4 GB (cost $499) and 8 GB (cost $599).
