October 22, Fineko/abc.az. Heightened geopolitical conflicts, rising public debt, and political uncertainties are driving wealthy investors from the US, Europe, and the Middle East to move their physical gold holdings to Singapore.
According to Bloomberg, estimates by J. Rotbart & Co. show that private gold reserves in Singapore have surged 16-fold since 2014, surpassing 800 metric tons, with European investors driving most of the inflow. Precious metals vault operator Silver Bullion reported a tripling of client gold assets since 2020 to 8.6 tons, 90% of which belongs to foreign clients.
Singapore leverages this influx to solidify its standing as Asia’s leading bullion hub alongside Hong Kong.
