July 13, Fineko/abc.az. The reduction in the number of sheep and goats is ongoing in Azerbaijan, and this is the lowest figure in recent decades.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Statistics Committee that as of July 1, 2023, our country numbered 7.322 million heads of sheep and goats (decrease of 38,500, or 0.52% a year).

However, the number of cows and buffaloes in the country increased up to 1 million. The figure reached 253,900 heads, which is almost 700 more.

According to the SSC, as of June 1, 2023, the price of mutton in Azerbaijan grew from 12.96 to 14.89 manats per kg for Jan-Jun 2023.

Currently, 1 kg of mutton on the market ranges from 16-18 manats.
