July 4, Fineko/abc.az. During the construction of buildings, their seismic resistance is taken into account.

ABC.AZ reports that Prof. Gurban Yetirmishli, director general of the Republican Center of the Seismological Service under the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Academy of Sciences’ corresponding member, stated at a press conference on the earthquake that occurred in the Caspian Sea on July 4.

He added that during the construction of buildings in our country, their resistance to an 8-point earthquake is taken into account, and building projects are developed with this in mind.

Yetirmishli said that Azerbaijan is in a seismic zone, and therefore earthquakes are a normal phenomenon:

"Rumors have recently spread that strong earthquakes will occur in Azerbaijan. Who said that there will be no earthquakes in Azerbaijan?! They can happen. Azerbaijan is located in a seismological zone, and this is taken into account during the construction of buildings."
