February 22, Fineko/abc.az. The growth of oil prices of benchmark grades accelerated on Tuesday due to the deterioration of the geopolitical situation in eastern Ukraine.

The April Brent futures on the London ICE Futures exchange by 12:43 jumped in price by $3.82 (4%) up to $99.21 per barrel. The price rose above $99 per barrel for the first time since September 2014.

The price of WTI futures for March on the electronic trading of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) soared by 12:42 by $4.93 (5.41%) to $96 per barrel. The March contracts for this type of fuel expire with the market closing on Tuesday.
