January 31, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, Japanese automaker Toyota Motor became the most profitable company.

ABC.AZ reports that the company sold about 10.5 million vehicles worldwide for 2021, including vehicles of mini-car manufacturer Daihatsu and pickup truck manufacturer Hino (10.1% more against 2020).

Toyota is reported to have suffered less than its domestic and foreign competitors from the closure of its factories and a shortage of semiconductor chip supplies due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the company left behind last year's sales of its closest competitor - German manufacturer Volkswagen - and retained the championship in 2020.

Volkswagen’s sales fell by 4.5% to 8.9 million cars year-on-year.
