October 20, Fineko/abc.az. At Ministry of Finance’s last auction, held at the Baku Stock Exchange, government bonds with 1,080 day-maturity were placed for 53.4 million manats.
Despite the fact that investor interest exceeded the proposed volume of 200 million manats, reaching 222.9 million manats, only about a quarter of the issue was placed.
Compared with the previous auction, the weighted average price increased up to 99.3577 manats, resulting in a drop in yield to 7.2420%. This indicates a slight decrease in the cost of borrowing for the government, while investors had to invest a little more money to get the same return.
The bonds, which are underwritten by PASHA Capital, will be in circulation until October 20, 2029 and are part of a domestic borrowing strategy.
Against the background of the replacement of external debt with internal debt, it is projected that country's overall public debt will reach 27 billion manats in 2026 and 34.5 billion manats by the end of 2030.
