October 29, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) fully supports the entry of foreign banks and investors into the local market in order to strengthen competition in the country's financial market and attract modern technologies, ABC.AZ reports, quoting CBA governor Taleh Kazimov as saying this at a press conference.

The head of the main regulator denied the allegations that the agency is not interested in attracting foreign capital, and noted:

"On the contrary, we support the arrival of foreign banks in Azerbaijan and we are very happy about this. I think this will make great contribution to development of human capital, as well as to the use of information technologies and increased competition. It goes without saying that, provided our country's interests are protected, we are open to increasing foreign participation not only in the banking sector, but also in the capital market and the insurance sector. Our main goal and objective is to promote Azerbaijan's financial sector internationally and invite investors to our country."
