October 12, Fineko/abc.az. The European Union is discussing further tightening of visa rules for Russian tourists, alongside new travel restrictions for Russian diplomats.

According to Politico, citing EU officials and Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, the European Commission is finalizing proposals to tighten visa conditions for Russian citizens and plans to present them in January 2027.

The initiative is reportedly being pushed by several countries, including Poland, Sweden, and Estonia, which frame the necessity of these restrictions as protection against "hybrid threats."
