October 12, Fineko/abc.az. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has called on member countries to accelerate the release of committed diesel stocks and consider additional emergency releases as global supply tightness escalates.

IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol urged member states to prioritize diesel supplies and meet their commitments under the collective action established in March.

Amid growing geopolitical risks in the Middle East, G7 nations agreed this month to release up to 100 million barrels of crude oil and diesel from emergency reserves. In March, the 32-member IEA authorized the release of 400 million barrels from strategic oil reserves—the largest in the agency's history.
