September 7, Fineko/abc.az. Construction work within the 240 MW Shafag Solar Project  is ongoing in Jabrayil district, emplyoing around 420 local employees, according to bp Azerbaijan.

The procurement and delivery of the main equipment, including high-efficiency photovoltaic modules and engineered structural support elements, was successfully finalized in the 1st half of 2026. Significant progress has also been made in the installation of foundation piles and automated solar motion tracking systems. The first solar panel was installed at the project site in early April.

Of the local workers employed in the project, 150 people are residents who have moved to the territories liberated from occupation. More than 700 jobs are to be created during the peak construction period.

The shares in Shafag Jabrayil Solar Limited (SJSL) are distributed as follows: bp — 40.01%, SOCAR Green — 39.99%, Azerbaijan Business Development Fund — 10%, MVM — 10%.

Completion of construction work on the project is scheduled for mid-2027.
