October 30, Fineko/abcnews. Tech giants Meta, TikTok, and X have lost a legal challenge at London's High Court against British regulator Ofcom regarding mandatory information requests issued under the Online Safety Act.

The High Court dismissed the tech firms' claims that Ofcom’s requests for detailed content moderation metrics created disproportionate regulatory burdens. Ofcom had requested data on removed posts and user exposure to harmful content, backed by powers to levy fines of up to 10% of global annual turnover for non-compliance. Welcoming the ruling, an Ofcom spokesperson emphasized that gathering corporate data is fundamental to enforcing online safety standards.
