October 30, Fineko/abcnews. British energy supermajor BP reported an adjusted net profit of $8.46 billion for the third quarter of 2026, reaching an 18-year high driven by surging refining margins and strong trading performance.
According to official results, BP beat consensus forecasts of $7.3 billion, up sharply from $2.21 billion in the same period last year. More than half of the profit ($4.8 billion) came from the Customers & Products division. The company's refining margin benchmark leaped to $46.70 per barrel from $29.60, while net debt dropped significantly to $13.87 billion from $22.3 billion.
BP CEO Meg O’Neill highlighted the exceptional quarterly performance of the refining segment. Prioritizing debt reduction and balance sheet strengthening, the company maintained its pause on share buybacks.
