US Diesel Prices Approach Record Highs

15:35 - 3.09.2026

September 3, Fineko/abc.az. Retail diesel prices in the US have surged sharply again, approaching record levels.

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average price of diesel has risen to $5.69 per gallon (approximately $1.50 per liter), marking the highest level since April. The all-time high national record was set in June 2022 at $5.82 per gallon.

The primary drivers behind the price surge include a reduction in global supply caused by attacks on oil refineries in the Middle East and Russia, alongside a seasonal drop in US diesel inventories. Demand is expected to rise further in the autumn with the start of the agricultural harvest and the heating season.
