European Union ambassadors have reached an agreement in Brussels to extend restrictive measures against over 3,000 Russian individuals and entities for a period of 36 months. Typically renewed on a six-month cycle, the framework has now been secured for an extended three-year timeline.

Concurrently, EU member states agreed to remove billionaires Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the sanctions list. Following persistent requests from Slovakia and France regarding Usmanov, and Luxembourg regarding Fridman, the decision was finalized after Latvia abstained from its previous veto. The formal decree will be officially published upon completion of the written procedure.
