July 29, Fineko/abc.az. Deposits still form the bulk of Azerbaijani banks' liabilities.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan reports that at the end of June, the deposit portfolio amounted to 39.743 bn manats (74.6% of overall liabilities of the banking sector).

Of the overall deposits, 22.315 bn manats, or 56.1%, belong to legal entities and 17.428 bn manats, or 43.9%, to individuals.

Of the individual deposits, 12.476 bn manats, or 71.6%, are held in national currency and 4.952 bn manats, or 28.4%, in foreign currency.

Term deposits amounted to 11.344 bn manats, or 65.1% of individual depositors' deposit portfolio. In June, their volume increased by 129.6 million manats, or 1.2%.

In June, the number of unique depositors in the banking sector grew by 4,485 people, or 2.1%, and by 26,475 people, or 13.6%, since the beginning of the year, reaching 220,600 people.
