July 28, Fineko/abc.az. Global payments giant Visa is preparing to eliminate approximately 2,600 positions, representing roughly 7% of its workforce, as part of an effort to streamline operations and boost efficiency.

In a memo sent to employees by CEO Ryan McInerney, the company stated that the reductions will primarily impact technology and product development teams. Visa employed around 34,100 people at the end of its most recent fiscal year.

The organizational shift is driven in part by the integration of artificial intelligence tools, which have helped streamline routine processes and accelerate product execution. Reallocated capital will be directed toward high-growth areas, including consumer payments, commercial and money-movement solutions, stablecoins, cross-border transactions, and business-to-business (B2B) payment services.
