July 25, Fineko/abc.az. As part of its 21st sanctions package against Russia, the European Union has added Kyrgyzstan's EcoIslamicBank to its restriction list. Effective August 13, European operators will be prohibited from conducting any financial transactions with the institution.

This brings the total number of EU-sanctioned Kyrgyz banks to three, following earlier restrictions placed on Keremet Bank and Capital Bank. Furthermore, the new package targets Bishkek-registered entities Nova Proekt, Rama Group, and Shisan, subjecting them to tighter export controls on dual-use technologies and industrial equipment.

European regulators noted that these measures are targeted at specific entities rather than the overall banking sector or economy of Kyrgyzstan.
