KazMunayGas intends to pay its share of $5 bn environmental fine for Kashagan

July 21, Fineko/abc.az. Kazakh state-owned company KazMunayGas, which is one of the key participants in the Kashagan field development project, intends to pay its share of the $5 bn environmental fine.

Bloomberg reports, citing sources, that national company's position differs from that of its foreign partners in the consortium, including Shell and ExxonMobil.

The international project participants deny any violations of environmental standards and are challenging the imposed fine in international arbitration.
