June 25, Fineko/abc.az. By the end of May 2026, the total assets of 22 banks operating in Azerbaijan increased up to 59.18 bn manats, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

In May, the assets of the banking sector grew by 3.2% and liabilities by 3.9%.

As of May 31, banking sector's overall liabilities amounted to 51.61 bn manats, while its balance sheet capital - 7.57 bn manats. Banks' balance sheet capital decreased by 1.2%.

Over Jan-May 2026, the banks earned 557.1 million manats (compared to net profit of 430.7 million manats for Jan-May 2025). Sector's operating profit for Jan-May 2025 totaled 837.5 million manats and the paid income tax - 134.7 million manats.
