June 18, Fineko/abc.az. After the liberation of Karabakh, Azerbaijan's cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) has significantly expanded.
ABC.AZ informs that the president of the IsDB Group, Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jasser, made the relevant statement at an event organized as part of the IsDB annual meetings held in Baku.
He added that cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IDB has been going on for many years, during which a number of major projects have been implemented.
"Since the beginning of our cooperation, the total volume of projects in Azerbaijan has exceeded $1.3 billion. Currently, we are further increasing the pace of cooperation, especially after the liberation of Karabakh, when our cooperation has significantly expanded," Al-Jasser said.
He pointed out that he had visited Karabakh twice to personally get acquainted with the progress of restoration and construction work.
"The ongoing transformations make huge impression. One of the first projects that we funded was a project in the field of water supply and irrigation. We are currently working on a major project worth more than $430 million, providing for the restoration of canals and reduction of water losses," he said.
According to Al-Jasser, the bank is also considering the possibility of participating in projects in other key infrastructure areas.
"We are exploring various areas, including the construction of highways, the development of transport and railway infrastructure. We are ready to support transformational projects that the government plans to implement in the coming years," IsDB head said.
He stressed that the IDB is proud of its status as a reliable partner of the President of Azerbaijan and the government of the country.
"We are confident that we are able to add value and share our experience in the implementation of these projects," IsDB head emphasized.
