June 12, Fineko/abc.az. Animal husbandry is one of the main spheres of the State Program, with special emphasis on the cattle sector.

ABC.AZ informs that Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilkhama Gadimova made the above-said statement at a regional meeting in Ismayilli, as part of the State Program for the development of production & processing of agricultural products, fish and aquaculture for 2026-2030.

According to Gadimova, by 2030 it is planned to increase milk production by 11% and beef production by 21%. It is also planned to increase the proportion of pedigreed animals in the herd by 5.6 times.

The goal is to reduce milk imports by 49.6% and beef imports by 40.2%.

The level of self-sufficiency should also increase: for milk - by 8.5%, for beef - by 11.5%.

To achieve these goals, it is planned to create dairy and meat clusters, form about 1,000 new farms of various capacities within the clusters, as well as support the provision of breeding cattle to these farms.

In addition, establishment of 90 milk collection points and 15 skin collection points will be supported. This will allow developing not only production, but also the entire chain — procurement, processing and sale of products.

Gadimova noted that identification of the entire cattle population is also an important measure: "Identification of animals is important for disease control, organization of breeding work, tracking productivity and ensuring transparent distribution of subsidies."
