June 4, Fineko/abc.az. Kazuo Ueda, Chairman of the Bank of Japan (BOJ), hinted in his speech at the Tokyo forum that the regulator may continue to raise the key interest rate.
ABC.AZ informs that Ueda stated that in the case of the basic economic scenario, further rate increases would be appropriate.
"If the Central Bank considers that the probability of the baseline scenario is increasing - that is, tensions in the Middle East will gradually decrease, and the core consumer price index (CPI) will rise smoothly to the target 2% amid moderate economic growth - then, in my opinion, the Central Bank will continue to raise the discount rate at an appropriate pace," he emphasized.
