June 4, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is working to create sovereign public services that are independent of the Internet.
ABC.AZ reports that Tural Mammadov, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the State Special Communications and Information Security Service, said this at panel discussions at the IV National Cybersecurity Forum in Baku.
He noted that data storage in the country is at the forefront: "In the context of sanctions and wars, every state is thinking about increasing resilience to such challenges. We are talking about ensuring that even in the event of an Internet outage, the internal infrastructure and communications remain operational. The priority is to create local exchange systems and sovereign government services that are independent of the Internet. One of the projects that our service is currently working on is aimed at creating such sovereign government services independent of the Internet. That is, even if the Internet is turned off in the country, these public services should remain accessible to citizens and other government agencies and continue to function. Some work is already underway in this direction."
