May 26, Fineko/abc.az. Eni (Italy) and its partners Petroci and Vitol have made the final investment decision on Phase 3 of the Baleine project (Baleine Phase 3) in Côte d'Ivoire. Realization of the new stage will increase the production of hydrocarbons 2.5-fold, ABC.AZ informs, referring to company's press service.
Development of the field within the 3rd phase will increase oil production from 60,000 up to 150,000 b/d and gas extraction from 80 million up to 200 million ft3/day (5.7 million m3).
The project includes development of a new floating complex for oil production, storage and shipment (FPSO).
The gas extracted at the field will be supplied to the domestic market to meet the needs of Côte d'Ivoire and will increase electricity generation in the country.
Baleine is Eni's first field and largest asset in the country, as well as the first zero–emission field in Africa. The proven reserves are estimated at 2 billion barrels of oil and 68 billion m3 of associated petroleum gas (APG).
