September 7, Fineko/abc.az. The domestic carbon market in Azerbaijan has not yet been formed, and the construction of the infrastructure necessary for its creation should begin now.
Ali Ahmadzade, an economist at the Department of Sustainable Development of the Financial Sector of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), made the relevant statement at the Baku Climate Action Week.
According to the CBA representative, the country can benefit from international experience in this process - in particular, the models of the European Union, China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
"We should analyze this experience more deeply and start work on creating the necessary infrastructure in Azerbaijan. We need to start by studying the legal framework, creating a measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) system and gradually moving from the project market to the national one," he concluded.
