April 13, Fineko/abc.az. In Europe, Azerbaijan's main natural gas market, prices for natural gas have increased sharply.
ABC.AZ informs that this is happening amid Donald Trump’s threats relating to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
At around 10:00 a.m. on Baku time, the price of European gas futures at the Dutch Natural gas hub (TTF) increased by 7% up to $570 per 1,000 cu m. Natural gas prices in Europe rose sharply after the announcement that the U.S. would launch a full-scale blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Bloomberg writes.
Gas prices in Europe increased more than by 50% since the first attack by the U.S. and Israel on Iran in late February.
Europe is the market to which Azerbaijan exports natural gas. In the first 2 months of this year, $1.285 million in foreign currency revenue was received from the export of 4.38 bcm of natural gas from Azerbaijan. The volume of exports increased by about 5%. The average export price of natural gas is set at $440 per 1,000 cu m in the State Budget of Azerbaijan for the first 2 months of 2026.
