April 6, Fineko/abc.az. Thousands of flights were canceled in the UAE after the outbreak of hostilities, and Dubai Airport, which served 95.2 million people last year, was paralyzed.
ABC.AZ reports that hotel occupancy has dropped to 15-20% of the usual level. In the first month of the war alone, more than 226,500 bookings were canceled. Major conferences and events are being postponed, and hotel employees are having their working hours reduced or are being sent on unpaid leave.
Dubai has allocated $272 million to support businesses and temporarily postponed the collection of the tourist tax.
According to Tourism Economics, in 2026, the flow of foreign tourists to the region may decrease by 11-27% if the conflict is not resolved, Al Jazeera reports. This is at odds with the December forecast, which assumed an increase of 13%.
In the worst case scenario, the region will miss 23-38 million tourists, and losses from reduced tourist spending will amount to $34-56 billion.
