March 18, Fineko/abc.az. Germany is the leader in the EU in terms of the cost of gasoline and diesel: taxes and fees account for up to 50-60% of the price.

ABC.AZ reports that these include the energy tax, the CO₂ levy, contributions to strategic reserves, and VAT.

As a result, at the price of nearly 2 euros per liter, more than 1 euro goes to the state. Due to such a high tax burden, fuel in Germany is noticeably more expensive than in neighboring EU countries, where taxes are lower.
