Fuel crisis in Australia: Authorities call for calm

12:02 - 17.03.2026

March 17, Fineko/abc.az. Due to the conflict in the Middle East and the spike in oil prices in Australia, fuel shortages have arisen, exacerbated by panic demand.

ABC.AZ informs that Energy Minister Chris Bowen called on citizens to abandon future purchases, assuring that supplies are continuing and factories are increasing production.

To stabilize the situation, the government has allocated 716 million liters of fuel from strategic reserves (nearly 20% of reserves). Despite the dependence on imports (90%), the authorities consider the current measures sufficient and have not yet introduced rationing, hoping for an early market recovery.
