October 27, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov met with Brendan Hanrahan is the Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

ABC.AZ informs that Azerbaijan and the U.S. exchanged views on strengthening institutional foundations, new cooperation mechanisms and investment initiatives.

At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with dynamics of two countries’ economic ties and the work to be carried out to promote cooperation to a new level was discussed.

The sides stressed the importance of theIntergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and the U.S. on the establishment of a strategic working group to prepare a Charter for strategic partnership. This initiative is of particular importance in terms of strengthening the institutional foundations of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Azerbaijan's priorities for development of economic cooperation with the U.S. were also presented. It was noted that the economic reforms in our country, improvement of the business climate and strategic infrastructure projects create favorable opportunities for American companies.

Following the meetings and negotiations held in Washington with leading institutions such as the U.S. Import–Export Bank (U.S. EXIM Bank), SpaceX, Exxon Mobil and others, an exchange of views took place on new cooperation mechanisms and investment initiatives.

During the discussions, the focus was on further work on the Zangezur Corridor (Trans-Caspian Platform for Regional Development and Partnership-TRIPP), contribution to economic cooperation of implementation of regional transport and logistics projects.
