Vietnam closes 86 million accounts because of biometrics

September 23, Fineko/abc.az. On September 1, 86 million bank accounts, whose owners did not undergo mandatory biometric verification, begins in Vietnam.

ABC.AZ informs that the new rules require proof of identity for online transfers over 10 million DONG (approx. $379).

In May, local police exposed a criminal group that used fake facial scans and laundered nearly $39 million. Of the country's 200 million accounts, 113 million have been verified; mostly inactive or foreign accounts are blocked.
