September 16, Fineko/abc.az. In Uzbekistan, a large gas field has been discovered on the Ustyurt plateau in Karakalpakstan.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to Presidential Administration’s press service, that the country has significant reserves of natural resources. Previously, exploration could only be carried out at depths up to 2,500-3,000 m.

"This year, for the first time in the history of our industry, a well was drilled to a depth of 6.5 thousand meters in Ustyurt and very large gas reserves were discovered," President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

He also stressed that the modern "fourth industrial revolution" increases the demand for technological minerals such as tellurium, lithium, selenium, graphite, molybdenum and others. The region is estimated to have 10-15% of the world's reserves of tungsten, molybdenum, zinc and titanium.
