Despite Trump's tariffs, Toyota car sales rose

July 30, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese corporation Toyota , amid duties initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump, reported an increase in sales of its own cars by 7.4% worldwide, ABC.AZ informs, referring to Toyota’s report for the 1st half of 2025.

Toyota's global vehicle sales, including those of subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors, grew more than by 5.5 million units in the 1st half of 2025, representing an increase of 7.4%. At the same time, following June 2025, which was the last reported month preceding Washington-Tokyo negotiations on the terms of customs duties, the company showed low sales growth of 2.7%. According to the report, Toyota car production worldwide also grew by 5.5 million cars in the 1st half of the year, or by 8.8%.

According to Bloomberg, demand for Japanese-made cars remains high in China, Japan, and especially in the U.S.
